Terms of Service

By accessing or using myECFS (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. The Service is intended solely for current students, faculty, and staff of Ethical Culture Fieldston School ("ECFS").

myECFS is a student dashboard that aggregates personal schedule information, dining menus, athletics schedules, and an AI assistant to help with school-related questions. The Service is not an official ECFS product and is not operated by ECFS.

You must have an active ECFS Google Workspace account (@ecfs.org) to create an account. By signing in, you represent that you are authorized to use that account.

Authentication is handled through Google OAuth via Supabase. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activity that occurs through it. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.

You may upload your class schedule (ICS files) to the Service. You retain ownership of this content. By uploading, you grant us a limited license to store and process the content solely to provide the Service to you. We do not share your schedule data with other users or third parties.

The AI assistant feature is powered by Anthropic's Claude API. Conversations are sent to Anthropic's servers to generate responses. Do not share sensitive personal information, passwords, or confidential school data through the assistant. AI responses may be inaccurate — always verify important information through official ECFS channels.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system or data
• Scrape, harvest, or systematically collect data from the Service
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers connected to it
• Use the Service to transmit harmful, abusive, or objectionable content

The Service relies on third-party services including Supabase (database and auth), Anthropic (AI), Google (sign-in), and Jina AI (web content parsing). Your use of the Service is also subject to those services' terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability or conduct of third-party services.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT INFORMATION PROVIDED IS ACCURATE OR COMPLETE. ATHLETICS SCHEDULES, LUNCH MENUS, AND AI RESPONSES ARE SOURCED FROM THIRD PARTIES AND MAY BE INCORRECT.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will update the effective date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, for any reason, without notice. You may delete your account at any time through the Settings panel.
